We hope that everyone is staying healthy and doing well.
Speech Language Pathologists were included in Phase #1 of the provincial reopening plan, meaning the government has given the okay for us to see clients in office again. Speech-Language Pathologists can see many children in one day and are often in very close quarters with clients. Due to the fact that the virus is still present, the College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists has recommended that virtual sessions continue when possible and clinically appropriate, as that is still the safest option. As such, we are continuing to see our clients virtually. When this is not possible, our team is discussing new service delivery models to ensure that clients can continue to grow and learn.
We have worked very hard on our new online platform and we are SO proud to announce that all three of our therapists are now offering online teletherapy services, We continue to provide evidence based practices through telepractice and are looking forward to continuing to support you and your child.
But when will you be meeting in person again?
When we feel we can safely provide the high quality therapy you've come to expect from SYM, we will let you know! At this time, under the Ministry of Health directives we would need to be wearing a lot of PPE to interact with your children. If we all need to be in full body hazmat suits behind plexiglass shields just to be in the same room together, wildly disinfecting after each client and having you wait in your cars for your sessions, we assure you virtual therapy will be a far better option than that.
Your first meeting is always complimentary. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us to better understand how we can help you and your child.
