Klarissa studied at the University of Guelph and received her BASc (Bachelor of Applied Science degree) in 2018. She then went on to complete her graduate certificate at Georgian College to become a Communicative Disorders Assistant (2019). Throughout this program she completed her placements at the Harmonize for Speech, Hearing and Language clinic, as well as Speak Your Mind, Speech and Language Services.
Prior to working at Speak Your Mind, Klarissa worked as a lifeguard for the city of Kitchener. After lifeguarding and teaching swimming lessons for almost 10 years, Klarissa learned of her passion to teach and help children reach their goals. Through many years of volunteering, she discovered that becoming a CDA was her biggest dream. She was able to begin this career straight out of school in 2019 and began her journey as a CDA at the Childhood Apraxia and Speech Therapy Centre.
Klarissa practices to support the neurodiversity movement. She has recently completed training in Gestalt Language Processing and has a passion to help learners use their tool box of communication tools to connect with others.
When she is not working, you can find Klarissa relaxing at the cottage, enjoying time with family friends. Klarissa is newly married and spends most of her free time training their pup named Remy.
